Earlier, losing vice presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr claims that the President-elect Rodrigo Duterte offered him a Cabinet post. This will only take place after the mandatory year-long appointment ban.

However, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano said that it may be a mere "speculation". He also noted that Duterte is keen on getting only "the best and the brightest" and Marcos doesn't fall under the descriptions.
"Would I go against him (Marcos) if I think he's among the best and the brightest?" he said. "I haven't heard that there was a formal offer," he added.

But Duterte's former running mate reveals that it is still the incoming presidents's "prerogative to appoint whoever he likes". "I may like some of his appointments, I may not like the other appointments, but I believe in him (Duterte) and support him all the way," Cayetano stated.

Lastly, Senator Cayetano says that it's too early to assume what's going to happen for the whole year. He also added that the President-elect may change his mind on appointments, as well as his earlier decision not to give a Cabinet post to Vice President-elect Leni Robredo.
